Ursula O’Farrell
As a professional painter, I've exhibited my work in as many as 11 contemporary galleries throughout the United States. I currently reside in Santa Cruz, California -- and have also recently found an apartment in Santo Spirito with my husband, Mike to support our desire to live in this enchanting city. Florence has held a magical place in my heart as I studied art in college and my junior-year-abroad was at the through Gonzaga University in Florence at palazzo Antinori many decades ago!
For most of my life I have felt the constant presence of Spirit. In fact, one of my earliest memories is of walking up a very large hill to get to my kindergarten class. I remember asking the angels to "please loan me a pair of wings" to help me "fly to school" (ha!). My connection to the unseen realms and devotion to Spirit has also fueled the creative fires of my evolutionary journey as a painter. As with most formal art studies, I first began by painting the Human Figure. I studied the body and its potential to convey beauty and evoke the wide range of human pathos through figurative abstractions.
Today I work with sacred geometries and look at paintings more as "healing transmitters" of divine support.
It would be fun to connect with any other artists who also enjoy the sacred-spiritual adventures in painting.
My preferred medium is acrylic and oil painting. During my 2-month visits in Florence, I typically like to work in watercolor. I am an astrologer and metaphysical seeker as well as painter---so the mystic path of unveiling one's "cosmic portrait" is typically of utmost interest to me.
