Bertrand Godefroy

Bertrand Godefroy, a sculptor and draftsman from France, discovered his passion for academic drawing at a young age , which built the foundation for his creative journey. To further develop his skills, he studied at Lyon’s Ecole Emile Cohl, earning a Bachelor's degree in draftsmanship. It was during this time that he became especially drawn to sculpture.

To deepen his understanding of sculpting techniques, Bertrand worked at Paris' Atelier Promethée, where he specialized in mold making and casting. This experience confirmed his decision to focus on sculpture. He later studied at the Florence Academy of Art, graduating and now teaching as a principal drawing instructor.

Bertrand begins his sculpting process by working with clay, using it to shape and refine his ideas before casting them in more permanent materials. His work is centered around his appreciation for the beauty and expressiveness of the human form. His goal is to capture both its physical elegance and the emotions it conveys. Through careful observation, he aims to go beyond surface details, creating pieces that feel alive and meaningful.

Every element in his sculptures, each contour and gesture, is thoughtfully considered to bring out a sense of depth and connection. His work reflects the complexity of human experience, offering a glimpse into the stories and emotions that shape us.
