Artist: Giovanni Balderi, Represented by Galleria Frilli
Marble, 100 x 27 x 20 cm
Giovanni Balderi's prerogative is to challenge both light and darkness at the same time. His art has always worked with white Carrara marble, creating, through his exquisitely refined drapery, plays of shadowy areas that, depending on the lighting adjustments, can turn into very deep chiaroscuros.
These spaces alternate with areas gently caressed by the light, or by the shadows themselves, ultimately creating movements in a very refined grayscale.
Giovanni Balderi often portrays the feminine being, feeling the urgency to represent it in its way of facing emotions and feelings: both the brighter side and the darker, more secret part of the feminine nature.
