Jamie Frost

In a life dedicated to figuration, Jamie seeks to describe the human condition at a base level, often belied by the epic scale of his work. An array of sketches, prints, maquettes, photographs, and drawings contribute to the production of major pieces of sculpture or cinematic drawings.
Jamie has a unique sensitivity to the physicality of his materials and processes. He opts to carve green timber for its vulnerability as a medium. Increasingly he chooses drawing methods which expose the physical act of moving, removing the separation between our physical and emotional selves.
His work has been shown widely, including a major touring solo exhibition of sculpture and drawing. Features and artist interviews include Creative Boom, Considering Art podcast, The Yorkshire Post, The Guardian, The Times, Daily Telegraph, among others. Recently he was shortlisted for the Alpine Fellowship Visual Arts Prize, the Cotswold Sculpture Park ‘sculpture of the year’ award and the New Light Sculpture Prize. Previously he has been awarded accolades for drawing and sculpture, including membership of the Royal Society of Sculptors and the Society of Portrait Sculptors’ Talos award.
