Nisa Brunner
Nisa, born in Switzerland with Afro-American roots, has always been drawn to the creative arts. After spending several years working as an engraver in Lucerne, she sought a more expressive path in her artistry that led her to pursue a degree from the vocational baccalaureate in design. After a year-long preparatory course in various art forms she discovered a deep passion for painting. Continuing her journey, Nisa studied at the Florence Academy of Art, honing her technical skills and drawing inspiration from the city’s rich history and the works of the old masters. Currently based in Florence, she works on personal projects while also commuting to Zuric where she is teaching the engraving class. Nisa’s diverse background and experiences continue to influence her approach to art, blending traditional techniques with a modern, personal perspective.
Intention:
My intention is to inspire the viewer to reflect on the ways we are all shaped by the world around us, and to celebrate the beauty that emerges from blending diverse cultural perspectives.
My artwork is a reflection of a continuous exploration of technique, history, personal expression and my ongoing journey to learn from and merge diverse cultural influences. Growing up with Afro-American roots in Switzerland and studying in Florence, I have always been inspired by the richness and complexity of different cultures. I believe that art is a universal language, capable of bridging gaps between history, people, and places. Through my work, I explore how different cultural traditions, both personal and global, shape our identities and histories. The technical skills I’ve honed through painting, combined with my exposure to various cultural narratives, allow me to create pieces that weave together diverse influences.
