Isabelle Weir

Isabelle Weir was born in the UK in 1999, she spent her formative years in Somerset before moving to Cambridge for university and eventually Florence to study art at the Florence academy of Art. Isabelle specialises in working from life. Her introduction into academic art began in 2018 during a 6 week intensive workshop at the Florence Academy of Art where she was taught drawing and painting techniques that originated from the 19th century academy practices. From 2018 to 2021 Isabelle completed a Bachelors degree in the History of Art at the University of Cambridge before returning to the Florence Academy of Art to enroll in the full time program. Alongside her practical studies, she was also a research assistant and held lectures as part of the art history lecture series at Florence Academy of Art. In 2023 she graduated from the Florence Academy of Art and has taken up the position of graduate in residence at the academy where she also teaches part-time. Her inspiration comes from observing her surroundings and exploring them in relation to mythological and narratorial traditions. She often responds to music, poetry and the oral tradition of storytelling when searching for subject matter.
